What is speciality coffee

Speciality coffee isn't just a marketing buzzword--- it's a formal classification in the coffee industry that refers to the highest quality tier of coffee beans, judged according to international standards. Speciality coffee must score 80 points or higher out of 100 on the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) grading scale. The beans are first graded in their raw green state (physical grading) then again after roasting through cupping (sensory grading). This ensures exceptional flavor, aroma and balance. 

Why it matters? 

  • Rewards farmers for quality, not just quantity 
  • Highlights terroir (flavor from origin, altitude, variety, and processing method)
  • Gives consumers more traceability---you often know the farm, harvest date, and processing details

Single Origin & House Blend

Single origin coffee highlights the unique identity and characteristics of one place or farm, like tasting the character of a vineyard in wine. Each origin reflects its own terroir and are releasesd in limited batches, tied to harvests in seasons. 

 

A house blend is a signature coffee created by combining beans from different origins for familiarity and consistency in taste for everyday. Our house blend: "Mastermind" is our signature taste for our standard white coffee and black coffee as well as speciality iced lattes. Smooth, balanced, and versatile. Carefully crafted from Nicaragua, Brazil and Peru with notes of Panela, Mandarin, Red Apple and Milk Chocolate.
